Once your kids get a bit older, they start to show an interest in things around the house. Unfortunately, that’s not the same thing as wanting to help out with the cooking, cleaning and laundry chores but they do develop a fascination with gadgets.
There are some gadgets that make you feel like you’ve finally grown up! You normally buy them in your late twenties or perhaps when you are setting up a home of your own. Here are three top household gadgets that your big kids will be fascinated by.
- A bread maker
Bread is a staple of the family diet and goes with so many recipes. Kids devour huge quantities of it and teens eat even more. If you invest in one of the top rated bread machines, your kids may even help you to make some. Young people love variety and novelty and you get this with your own bread machine. The possibilities are endless for sweet and savory loaves. The best bit is how easy it is. The kids can help you to prepare the recipes and then you just pop it in the bread machine and forget about it.
Busy Moms can batch cook delicious loaves and freeze them for use later. That way, there will always be a healthy and tasty snack available when the kids get in from school and start raiding the fridge and kitchen cupboards.
- A chocolate fountain
It’s not just the kids that will love this but it is perfect for birthday parties. The kid’s faces will light up when they walk in the room and spot the chocolate fountain in the corner! You do need an adult to supervise or things can get very messy indeed. You need to use a special type of chocolate for them to work properly but apart from that, they are super easy to use. You just set them up and chocolate circulates continuously.
If you are worried that the kids are overdosing on sugar, don’t give them marshmallows and biscuits to dip in the fountain. Chop up some fresh fruit instead. Strawberries, orange and watermelon go very well. Adults can get a spoon and drizzle melted chocolate over sorbets and gateaux.
- A food processor
A good multi-function food processor will do just about everything for you. It will chop, slice and grate so it so handy for batch cooking soups and casseroles. Some models will mix, whisk, and whip as well. This is a machine that younger kids will need supervision to use for safety reasons but older teens can use them by themselves.
If you have a budding chef or baker in the family they will love trying out all the various functions and letting the machine show what it can do. You may be the one left with the washing up so try to pick a model where most of the parts can put in the dishwasher!
